What are some common integration practices?

Psychedelic integration can take may forms. At it's core, it refers to the application of the experiences and lessons acquired when journeying with psychedelics. These lessons; ranging from subtle to profound, are rooted in our intuition and come from within us. The medicine merely sheds light on them.

As we emerge from these journeys, after time, our brains often revert to the pre-existing DMN (Default Mode Network)- to the thought patterns, habits and triggered responses that controlled us before the journey. However, if we hope to see lasting change, discipline around integration is integral.

Psychedelic Integration

With micro dosing, the integration is often happening in unison with the journey. This creates a unique reality where the medicine can often be an integration tool in itself. By pairing your dose with tools such as intention setting, journaling, meditation, exercise, and daily gratitude; lasting change becomes attainable.

Research shows that the trickle effect of micro psilo experiences can create similar neurological results as a macro experience. As such, it's important to have professionals in your corner that can assist with the facilitation of the medicine. Working with practitioners that understand the integration process is a powerful conduit to achieving desired results.

In embarking on this journey with psychedelics, we must to remember that the healing is not done by the substance. Instead, the healing happens when we are aware of what the medicine is telling us, and we choose to carry that lesson into our lives through dedication and discipline. While the experience can promote growth on our brain neurons, if we revert back to our old habits and thought patterns, the neural pathways that were created, also revert back to their old routes.

Two of the more prominent frameworks in integration are PEMS and ACE as they help ground the insights from your journey into your daily life.

PEMS Energy System

The PEMS model breaks integration into four key areas:

  • Physical – Focuses on the body’s response. Integration may involve movement, nutrition, sleep, or reducing stress.
  • Emotional – Ensures emotions are fully processed. This could mean journaling, intentional reflection, or expressing unresolved feelings.
  • Mental – Helps make sense of the experience. Activities like therapy, journaling, or taking action on life’s challenges bring clarity.
  • Spiritual – Explores deeper connections. Integration might include meditation, religious study, or personal spiritual practices.

By categorizing your experience, you can identify actionable steps to support lasting change.

ACE Integration Model

ACE offers a simple, structured way to process and apply psychedelic insights:

  • Accept – Acknowledge your experience as real and meaningful, even if parts feel unclear.
  • Connect – Engage with the lessons that emerged, exploring what they’re asking of you.
  • Embody – Integrate these insights into your daily life, making them part of who you are.

Through these models, integration becomes an active, intentional process—helping you create real, lasting transformation. These transformations are nurtured in the presence of licensed professionals.

While we believe that many can navigate these waters of self-exploration and self-care on their own, adding the guidance of a therapist to safely navigate the frontier of psychedelic therapy is an empowered step towards achieving harmony.
